2007 the year that was
Favourite Album
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Came out at the start of the year and in all honesty I don't think anything came close in terms of a complete piece. In this day and age and a time of the shuffle, the LCD album yearned to be played in track order from opener 'Get Innocous' to final lament 'New York your bringing me down'.
Favourite Single
Rustie 'Jagz the smack' EP - only just heard this in December and maybe that's the reason it's getting single of the year, but I can't think of anything else that touches this.
Favourite Remix
This like the favourite single keeps changing now it has got to be the Burial remix of Bloc Party's "Where is Home'
New Discovery
The Duke Spirit
Rustie
Disrupt
Lukid
Probably all been around for ages
Biggest Disappointment
UNKLE - always the also rans. I do like War Stories but it could have been so much better.
Fashion Accessory
Fragment x Converse
Half a size too big, but still worn in the sake of fashion.

BUILD & DESTROY
Maybe a bit early for end of the year reviews but......
FAVOURITE ALBUM
Various Productions - Various Production
I haven't bought many new albums this year but this really did stand out for me - not sure who is behind the project but a nice mix of folk, grime and electronica- the 7"'s are excellent as well and worth hunting down.
Edit - Got to say 'Nathan Fake's - Drowning in a sea of love' comes a very close second
FAVOURTIE SINGLE, EP
Rich - Neon One
James Lavelle is holding this lad back - excellent release from file - Big Mistake blows me everytime i hear it.
FAVOURTIE REMIX
Massive Attack - False Flags (Unkle Mix)
This was a tough one, I was going to give it to Ashley Beadles remix of Laurient Garniers 'Man with the red face' - but i think this came out years ago (buy it now its immense). I think UNKLE for all their faults have put out some good remixes this year and the Massive one was the stand out for me.
NEW DISCOVERY
Emperor Machine
60's soundtrack Sci-Fi electronica - say no more - thanks guys - you know who you are.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
SOUTH
I still fly the flag for these guys but the new album was a massive disappointment, still going one last time to see them in October - sight of me, run on time and broken head live are still fantastic.
FASHION ACCESSORY
badges and hats - ha ha ha

Now at Singapore Airport waiting for a flight to KL and then straight on to another back to good old Blighty. Singapore has been superb and would recommended it to anyone to pay it a visit - the right mix of nightlife shopping etc. We pretty much covered as mcuh of what Alex suggested as we possibly could - took in the Lau sat Pat and Newton Hawker Markets (the sugar cane juice was lush) went to jumbo's for Chilli crab and ruined a W)Taps tee in the process - Messy eating - had plenty of beers down by the river - nice setting but real expensive about 4 pound a beer - bring on those happy hours!!!! Went to Sentosa for the day which was cool in a bizarre way - even went over on the cable cars and anyone who knows me that was real brave of me - well i better get off this as someone is breathing down my neck to get on this terminal.

Now in Singapore - already hit the shops once - going back today to spend some serious dollars. On arrival at the Fullerton we were greeted with a bottle of Moet and Stawberries (going to get used to this life style). Ate at a hawker market at night and all went well until we got puddings - Mine was ice cream, ice, mango, sweetcorn and what could only of been black beans!!!!!
Above are some random first night pics - we got steaming drunk and my head hurts big time today not only because i nearly knocked myself out in X-Large picking flyers off the floor and whacking my head on some installation as i got up 'SPAZ'
Real hot here today so we are off to get Singapore Slings, also meant to be meeting up with Messie tonight for dinner
Only 2 nights left now

Yesterday I sat by the pool all day reading as the weather was overcast and cloudy and one word for that is NAIVE - I burnt to a crisp - I have never been in such pain - Emma has sent pictures to certain individuals of this - I do apologise. We have woke to another cloudy day so am being careful today - I actually squeak when i walk!!! Emma is horseriding on the beach at the mo!!! So I thought I would check out whats going on in the world. Got a reply from Messie's partner Amanda and they want to hook up for Dinner in Singapore on the Thursday which should be cool. Well I'm off now for some Maylay Curry Puffs - Laters - Peace out!!

This morning we have woke to heavy rain - I guess we are getting the tail end of the massive storms in Japan and China! Two more days here still though so the weather better improve, then we will be flying to Singapore - really looking forward to this part of the holiday now (shop, shop, shop). The food has been fantastic (sadly no pictures yet Rich) and I have got to say to Alex 'Roti Cani' is the tits!!!!!!! I could go a slice or two right now. Not sure what we are going to do today unlike being in a city when its raining you are at a bit of a loss - could get drunk but happy hour ain't till 2.30 and the drinks ain't cheap here. I suppose I should shut up and thank my lucky stars I haven't got to go to work!!!

Well one week into the trip now - we have actually had heavy tropical rain everynight we have been here so far, but wake to glorious sunshine everyday! The resort we are staying at in Sabah is real luxurious but comes at a price - much more expensive than Thailand - Everything we own has that feel of humidity to it, and I can't wait to get to Singapore to buy some fresh threads (any excuse). This will be probably the last post I do in Borneo as the Internet connections are quite slow and it takes ages to post any pics. Will be in Singapore Wednesday and will post again then.
